Abstract
Introduction:
The positive impact of nature-oriented human settlements on the enhancement of individuals' physical and psychological well-being has been well-established. The field of environmental psychology facilitates a deeper understanding of this positive influence. However, a comprehensive exploration of the dimensions and principles of environmental psychology and their connection to the characteristics of nature-oriented settlements requires further investigation. This study aims to present a comprehensive framework of environmental psychology dimensions and evaluate their realization in nature-oriented settlements, specifically identifying key factors influencing the mental and social health of residents in such environments.
Methodology:
This mixed-methods research initially employs qualitative analysis to identify dimensions and indicators of environmental psychology through deductive content analysis of relevant studies. Subsequently, a researcher-designed questionnaire based on the identified principles is administered in Masuleh. The collected data are analyzed using SPSS software with dispersion indicators (mean and standard deviation) and the one-sample t-test.
Findings and Discussion:
The study results rank the dimensions of environmental psychology from highest to lowest in Masuleh as follows: environmental perceptions, individual emotions, physical and mental health, personal empowerment, cultural-social world, and personal boundaries. Based on the one-sample t-test, environmental psychology in Masuleh demonstrates a favorable status, with an obtained mean score of 4.09 (above the neutral score of 3).
Conclusion:
According to the research findings and dispersion indicators, all dimensions of environmental psychology in Masuleh are above the societal mean. The results of the one-sample t-test indicate an average score 1.09 higher than the societal mean, suggesting the high quality of Masuleh from the perspective of environmental psychology.
