Abstract
Passive defense is a complex of unarmed measurements and considerations which lead to vulnerability mitigation, increasing deterrence, facilitating crisis Management, continuity of necessary activations and upgrade national stability against threats and military options.
In this article, we’ve explained the relation between passive defense and architecture. In other words, the main question is how to decrease the vulnerability of critical and important buildings whit architectural guidelines. Studying recent wars like Libyan war (2011) shows that political & bureaucratic buildings are direct or indirect targets.
This article is an applied research and is based on library-web research method and interview with experts in order to introduce the relation between architectural components and blast (blast shock, quiver). Architectural components like shock pass space, external volume, atriums, separation joints, hierarchy protection and etc. have important influence on decreasing vulnerability of buildings and it’s residents. In order to achieving these goals, it’s necessary to identify the correct relation of these components with vulnerability mitigation.
